Do me a favor. Google ‘most beautiful faces’ and see what you find. Did it scare you as much as it scared me? Does this abide your view on beauty?

What is beauty? What makes someone beautiful? The media sadly still have quite the influence on what is seen as beauty and even the definition of beauty states:

“a combination of qualities, such as shape, colour, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight”

That pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight. The models walking the catwalk during the Victoria’s Secret show surely please the sight, but is that true beauty? Or the expression on the old man’s face when he finds out that his dog digged another hole in his garden? It might not please the aesthetic senses as much as Victoria’s models, but still..

Beauty has varied throughout time, various cultures and the vast different perceptions of the world. Beauty has been described and depicted through pictures and concepts penetrating our minds. Beauty has been defined in so many ways. It comes to us in all shapes and sizes. It’s the images and moments that inspire and represent the most distinct and remarkable attractiveness of our souls. In opposite of what the media shows I think true beauty is seen in truth. A reflection of the soul in raw emotions and real situations.

So what you don’t have a size 34 or legs up to heaven. Your eyes are the mirrors of your soul no matter how big, small, straight or crossed. The small lines on your face tell a story no movie can ever capture. The dims in your cheeks show a joy that only you can truely understand.

These 12 portraits capture a glimpse of beauty that you won’t see in any commercial or fashion show. These portraits show you a naked truth and a raw beauty for not just the eye, but the heart.

    1. Hi John! I wish I was that talented but unfortunately I’m not 😉 It’s a collection of many different photographers who pictured a moment I find truly pure and beautiful. Your portraits are wonderful as well!

  1. Beauty to me transcends beyound the superficial nice looking object or face which the average person will aways expect. Its a deep spiritual exercise for one to see beauty beyond all you see to something you cant really touch or find hard to express “abstract”. Times without number there is beauty in meaning, in soul/heart, in love, in kindness. If you have a touch of these in you then you are so beautiful.

  2. Reblogged this on My Random writings … and commented:
There is beauty in all things if only you could see through the eyes of your heart. the flaws with our two eyes is that they only appreciate aesthetic views and neglect a whole world of beauty in the abstract world. what is more beautiful is hidden within. you have to search for it with deeper meaning before you can appreciate how beautiful they are. I see beautiful every where , I see beautiful all the way, I see beautiful every, because the whole of humanity surrounds itself in beauty. I find the writing of Myra awesome and deep so i like to share with you all. kindly drop a comment. What is beautiful to you?
